Registration and Warrant of Fitness

Prime Trailers can arrange both registration and Warrant of Fitness of your trailer prior to collection – so you can just drive on in, hook up and drive away. If it is your Company purchasing, then registration is made directly into your company name. With registration into your personal name, if we sight your ID prior to purchase we have authorisation from NZTA to register the trailer directly to you. If not, we can still register the trailer on your behalf – you will however need to go online following collection and change the ownership into your own name.

Warranty

Prime Trailers offers a 12 month part and 4 year structural warranty to the original owner on every trailer it sells. This warranty is of course offered on the basis that the trailer is not used outside of normal and expected towing conditions and has not been subject to mistreatment, overloading, modifications or non industry standard repair work. Fair wear and tear is also exempted from warranty.

GVM / Towing Capacity

GVM stands for gross vehicle mass – so the total combined weight of the trailer itself and its load. Most standard passenger vehicles have an unbraked towing capacity of 750kg – this is determined by the tow bar rating on the towing vehicle, the rating of the trailer and braking systems. Please ask us for more information relevant to your own requirements and situation.

Servicing

As with anything, annual maintenance and servicing will increase the lifespan of your trailer. Be sure to re-torque wheel nuts 50kms after a tyre has been changed or wheel removed, check for play in wheel bearings and tighten drawbar bolts and U bolts to ensure ongoing and longterm hassle free use. When attaching your trailer, always check the lights and indicators are operational before use.
